Bully’s on Union
717-684-2854
647 Union St., Columbia, PA 17512
Built in 1903 by A.G. Beattie as a hotel-tavern for the thriving mill and railroad town of Columbia. By the time of prohibition, Ernest Schlotthauer was the owner and the locals nicknamed the place "Piney's." It is rumored that he even made his own moonshine here. Ernest's step-son, Raymond Kitch took control of the establishment in the 1960's. Patrons would sit for hours, drinking and talking while using the long narrow spittoon that ran the length of the bar and rubbing nickels into its ever deepening grooves. The tavern was renovated in the late 1980's to a full service restaurant and bar. GREAT FOOD! Stimulating atmosphere.
El Serrano
(717) 397-6191
2151 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA
Amazing. If you didn't know better you'd doubt it could be this authentic but owner Manuel Torres makes buying trips to South America for the decor - authentic Peruvian food. How did this end up in Central PA?
Gibraltar
(717) 397-2790
931 Harrisburg Avenue
Gibraltar delivers a great dining experience for that perfect occasion or no occasion at all. Seafood is the specialty. Some may find it a little TOO cool - others just their style. Would it be better in the heart of downtown Lancaster rather than on Harrisburg Avenue in a new building? Yes. Forgiveable for food this good? Yes.
